Introduction to the fundamental tools of statistical quality control and related statistical techniques. Topics include control charts, sampling plans, process capability indices, and other statistical techniques. Emphasis on basic concepts, their application, and the risks associated with various quality control procedures.

Open to Industrial Engineering majors only. Pre Req: M&I-ENG 273 This is a core course for Industrial Engineers. MEs interested in taking this course as an ME technical elective must email Kevin Romani (kromani@umass.edu) requesting permission to join no earlier than April 6th. The email should include your SPIRE ID number. Kevin will enroll students who have made the request beginning April 28th and will do so until the course is full. Students are enrolled in order of when the message is received, so if you are interested in this class, you should email Kevin on April 6th. Please make sure you are not already enrolled in a course that conflicts with this meeting time or that this course would put you above the maximum number of credits per semester (19). Otherwise, you will not be added to the class.
