Advanced ecology course that examines the interplay between aquatic organisms and their physical, chemical, and biological environment, with an emphasis on freshwater lakes and streams. Students will learn basic ecological concepts and theory and sampling methods, and apply them to understand the impacts of human activities on aquatic ecosystems and strategies for conserving and managing freshwater ecosystems. While there are no formal prerequisites to accommodate graduate students with diverse backgrounds, students should have completed coursework in general biology, chemistry, and ecology.

Open to juniors and seniors in NRC & ENVIRSCI and graduate students in ECO or Sustainability Science. Two semesters biology, one semester chemistry, one semester ecology or permission of instructor.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
