Human experience differs dramatically across groups. How do these differences shape the way people think? Research in cross-cultural cognitive science shows that people form systematically different concepts according to the structure of their linguistic and cultural experience, even in fundamental cognitive domains like space, time, and number. In this course, we explore this cognitive diversity and what it can teach us about how humans get so smart. Coursework emphasizes reading, analyzing, and discussing primary research articles.
