Sociology graduate students only. In this seminar, we will examine the multiple ways that sociologists, as well as other social scientists and humanists, have conceptualized the social construction of race and racism, in various cultural contexts and historical moments and in relation to various groups and research problems. We will also go beyond social constructionism to reckon with antiblackness, colonialism, and racial capitalism.

Permission is required for interchange registration during the add/drop period only.
