Through a team- and project-based format, the course provides a framework for students to engage with scientific topics at a sophisticated level and with an interdisciplinary approach; students practice locating, analyzing, and communicating complex scientific information, individually and in teams. Specifically, completion of this course will give students the opportunity to: develop their ability to find, understand, and think critically about information; make thoughtful connections between the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology and other disciplines, as well as everyday life; increase their awareness of applications and careers which utilize biochemical and molecular biological knowledge; enhance their ability to communicate scientific information effectively, with an emphasis on oral communication; and practice strategies for working collaboratively. This course satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology majors.

Open to juniors and seniors with a primary major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. PreReq: Biochem 275 or 285 Students who require assistance enrolling in this course should email bmbprogram@biochem.umass.edu.
