Structure and function of biological molecules, especially proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. Important concepts include bioenergetics, biological catalysis, and metabolic pathways as interacting regulated systems.

BIOCHEM 275/85 w/ B-, CHEM C- In this course, students can choose how they want to be graded from 2 different grading schemes. One of these grading schemes involves participation in peer-led team learning (PLTL) sessions.

Students who do not want to attend PLTL sessions should enroll in discussion section 01AA, which does not have a date/time. All students will start out by enrolling in section 01AA.

Students who can commit to attending PLTL sessions should sign up for a discussion section at a date/time that works with their schedule (section 01AB, 01AC, 01AD, etc). These sections will open-up during the first week of classes.

Note that students cannot take both Biochem 320 and Biochem 423 for credit.

Students who require assistance enrolling in this course should email bmbprogram@biochem.umass.edu.
