Application of mathematical methods to solving problems in physics using calculus-based methods. Fourier series, Fourier and Laplace transforms and their use in solving ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Green?s function approach to solving ODEs with initial and boundary value problems. Vector calculus including Stokes and divergence theorems and their applications to electromagnetism. Classification of second order linear partial differential equations (PDEs) and their physical context: Laplace and Poisson equations of electrostatics, heat/diffusion equation, continuity equation and wave equation. Fourier methods and Green?s function for solving linear PDEs.
