Intro/Data Science Using R

Data science is an exciting discipline that allows you to turn raw data into understanding, insight, and knowledge. The course will first focus on data visualization and data transformation, and then introduce other topics including exploratory data analysis and programing. This course will help students learn the most important tools in R to do data science. Students will gain hands-on experience through in-class coding activities and homework assignments.

ST-Public Health Law & Ethics

This course discusses the legal and ethical issues at the heart of public health and medical care delivery systems in the US. Topics include issues related with bio-medicine, death and dying processes, medical research, organ procurement and donation, quarantine practices, reproductive technology, in addition to other topics of current interest. Cultural, legal, professional, religious, and other lenses will be used to explore examined issues.

Health Care For All

U.S. health care system with emphasis on issues relating to unequal access to health services. An analysis of how the system should work. Special attention to controversial issues, including managed care and health insurance. How other countries design health systems. (Gen.Ed. SB, DU)

Stat Modeling/Health Data Sci

This is course is for students who want to learn essential statistical and computational skills for health data science. Students will obtain hands-on experience in implementing a wide range of commonly used statistical methods with real data from public health and biomedical research using the statistical programming language R. The course motivates statistical reasoning and methods through real health data.
