An introduction to French with an emphasis on acquiring a basic level of proficiency in the language and understanding of the culture of France and the Francophone world. Freshmen with one senior year of high school French with a grade of A or B or with two years of high school French are encouraged to enroll in FRENCHST 120 rather than this course.

Egyptian Arabic IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Egyptian Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Egyptian Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Egyptian Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Egypt and to support course work in Middle Eastern, African and International Studies.

The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Filipino develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Philippines and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

Students studying Czech develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Czech Republic and to support course work in European Studies.

Amharic VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Amharic. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.
