Actor/Director Collaborations
This course provides the most intensive collaborative opportunity for actors and directors to work together in our department. Directors and actors have an equal voice in the collaborative process, with the goals of: Understanding and experiencing one another's roles; Being able to communicate personal perspectives in a group; and Respecting and integrating the perspectives of collaborators.
S- Sound Design for Film
This course will be a project-based approach to the art of sound design for film. We will focus on foley work, field recording, and music creation in order to tell the narrative and emotional story of the film selections. Using Logic Pro X, we will look at the arrangement, mix, and timing of these creative elements in order to create a portfolio of sound design work.
Costume Design Studio
Continuation of THEATER 362. Costume design theory, conceptualization, and solution of related problems. Design projects, concept papers, journal, sketch book, and appropriate design work for department productions. Prerequisites: 300-level theater courses or equivalent, consent of instructor. May be repeated for credit. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Theatr majors.
Acting Shakespeare
Classical actor techniques in Shakespearean performance. Students learn the lost art of verse speaking. Performance is placed against the vibrant backdrop of Elizabethan London and its exciting theatre scene.
Playwriting
Exercises in play construction involving characterization, dialogue, and plot development; and completion of a short playscript.
