Independent Study

Independent student research in neuroscience and behavior. The work is supervised by a faculty sponsor who determines direction of the project, reports required, grade and credit awarded. The project may consist of laboratory research, library research, or some combination of the two. Credit is variable (1-6 credits) and independent study may be repeated each semester. May be taken for a letter grade or graded Satisfactory (SAT). A SAT is similar to the undergraduate Pass (P) and is defined as passing for graduate credit.

FYS- Climate Change: Hot Mess

Human activity is causing the climate of our planet to change at an unprecedented rate. With all of the information available these days from a variety of sources it can be challenging to cut through the noise and get to the actual science. How do we know what is causing climate change, how does the current situation differ from the past, and what is going to happen in the future?

Integrative Team Science Sem

Enhances the thesis research for students in the iCons program through peer student support teams and advanced scientific communication. The purpose of this course is to blend team-based learning and undergraduate scientific research to enhance students' communication skills and to promote integration of mulch-disciplinary approaches to solving scientific problems.

S- CNS Career Planning

This is a practical, hands-on course which will help students identify their own interests, skills and values to create a personal career development path. Through this process, students will acquire the skills necessary to write a resume, CV, and cover letter; how to search for internships, labs and research opportunities; how to build a professional network using LinkedIn; interview; and gain other professional skills to succeed both in school and in the workplace post-graduation.

This seminar is designed to help international students who have never studied in the USA make a successful start at the university in the College of Natural Sciences. We will review campus resources and opportunities, give students the chance to ask lots of questions, and help students integrate into campus life. Undergraduate teaching assistants will mentor students and assist with the transition to the university.

Multidisciplinary professional writing course. Research, analyze, reference and write in the formal and informal text conventions used by Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Conservation, & Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
