S- RISE Fellows

In this 1-credit seminar experience, you will develop valuable professional, leadership, advocacy, interpersonal, and organizational skills and apply them to your work as a RISE Fellow, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across SBS and helping first-generation, low-income, and BIPOC students to navigate their undergraduate experience. This course is designed to foster your own personal, intellectual, and professional development as much as it is to prepare you to provide a valuable service for minoritized students, your departments, and the College in general.

College to Careers

This highly-participatory course will take a comprehensive and integrated approach to teaching students how to translate their academic, co-curricular, experiential, and work-related accomplishments into purposeful careers, service, and/or further study. Students will develop the core competencies of leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, and professional presentation. We will spend considerable time discussing the SBS Pathways philosophy and resources.

College to Careers

FYS - SBS Pathways/College

There is more than one way to find success in college and the path to getting there is different for every student. Our goals in this course are to 1. Make social/interpersonal connections that will enhance your ability to become more productive contributors to your communities, both at UMass and beyond, 2. Develop academic goals and begin to plan individual pathways toward achieving those goals, 3. Understand the values and perspective of an SBS major and the overall structure of UMass, 4.
