ST- Phys Activity Research I

This course is designed to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge related to measuring children's free-living physical activity and sedentary behavior in unstructured environments. Students will learn about and become proficient with direct observation methods, accelerometry and anthropometric measurements. Becoming proficient in these methodologies will allow students to continue with hands-on data collection efforts.

ST-Techniques/MuscleBiophysics

This course will explore the key techniques and assays in the area of muscle biophysics. These will include the in vitro motility and laser trap assays. in addition we will discuss standard biochemical assays and methods that allow for the investigation of isolated proteins and enzymes . These will include the ATPase assay as well as protein purification and isolation. The course is lab-based and will involve extensive time in a wet-lab and performing advanced microscopy.
