This independent study involves working with a faculty member as an Undergraduate Course Assistant (UCA) for a Public Health Sciences course. UCAs attend class sessions, assist with development and administration of course materials and activities, and support student learning and engagement. IS-Guided Independent Research
This independent study involves engaging in Public Health-related research under the supervision of an approved faculty member. Students work with their faculty supervisor to develop learning objectives for their independent research project, as well as a detailed plan describing how these objectives will be fulfilled.
IS-PubHlth Sci Peer Advising
This course provides a training ground for student Peer Advisors to develop leadership skills and gain valuable insight on the needs and perspectives of PHS students through the following modalities: in-class dialogues and learning activities, assigned readings, and working with groups and individual students in the drop-in peer advising office. Through these actions, peer advisors build the necessary community and leadership skills to support and empower students in their academic and professional pursuits.

This is a stand-alone independent study designed by the student and faculty sponsor that involves frequent interaction between instructor and student. Qualitative and quantitative enrichment must be evident on the proposed contract before consent is given to undertake the study.
