Introduction To Ethics

How should we live our lives? What should or shouldn't we do? On what basis should we decide what to do as a society? Ethics involves bringing careful reasoning to bear on difficult moral questions, questions that have a bearing on decisions we all face both as individuals and together as a society. We will begin by introducing some of the major contemporary moral theories and methods. Then, we will critically examine pressing issues in applied ethics, including (but not limited to) the alleviation of global poverty, punishment, euthanasia, factory farming, and sweatshop labor. Introduction To Philosophy

This course will cover questions about the place of mind in a world of matter; the nature of free will, and whether it is so much as possible; a variety of questions about knowledge, including self-knowledge; and a number of moral questions, including questions about our responsibility to others less fortunate than ourselves. The application of principles of therapeutic and professional communication, teaching-learning, anticipatory guidance, parenting safety, assessment and management of individuals and families, health and illness states, and professional development to affect the health of children, parents, families, and self. Professional Skills Essentials

This course is designed to accompany an internship experience (remote and/or in-person) and is available to students participating in an internship in the same semester. Experiential learning opportunities not only add value to a student's professional pursuits, but also serve as a vehicle for learning key professional skills such as teamwork, communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. The class is intended to expand upon the internship experience through personal reflection, relevant readings, writing, group interactions, subject-matter expert speakers, and site visits.

Motor Control & Learning

This course will covers the essential components of motor behavior as it relates to motor control and skill acquisition. Students will critically review relevant literature and discuss strengths, weaknesses, and future directions. The objective of the course is to allow students to understand the neurological and mechanical processes underlying motor control and the ability to acquire and retain a new motor skill.
