A survey of the literature and culture of the Jewish people in the formative years of its history. Emphasis on the development of Judaism in the biblical, Graeco-Roman, and rabbinic periods. Final unit treats the Jewish life-cycle and the system of religious practices. (Gen. Ed. HSG)

This course is geared toward the development of the student?s skill in writing proper English prose. The student is expected to do a lot of writing during the semester.

Seminar on the theoretical and practical approaches to foreign language learning and teaching. Topics include teaching methodology, lesson planning, materials development, testing and assessment, and teacher development. Prerequisite: consent of instructor. (Not offered 2003-2004)

This is a Capstone course for honors students. The seminar explores the unique culture of the samurai warrior class from its ancient origins to its transformation under the Tokugawa regime and its demise in modern times.
