Intro to Language Science

The content of this course serves as an introduction to language structure, processing, and variation in the context of communication disorders. It serves as preparation for the study of language development and disorders throughout the lifespan. Through a series of case studies, students will learn to analyze and describe typical and impaired language abilities, with particular focus on the production of words, sentences, and conversational interactions. We will also study cultural variation in the use of language, including dialectal variation and multilingualism.
