ST-Biotechnology Journal Club

This journal club is a 1-credit class, open to graduate students in the BTP program. Other students will be allowed to join as space allows any given year. We will meet once per week, and each week we will review and discuss the most recent scientific literature related to biotechnology (spanning topics in Chemistry, Engineering, and Biology). This is primarily a student-run journal club, with faculty coordination.

Veterinary Parasitology Lab

This course is a study of both internal and external parasites found in veterinary medicine. Areas of concentration include life cycles, pathogenesis, treatment, control, and public health significance of these parasites. The laboratory portion includes both gross and microscopic evaluation, identification, and testing procedures.

Medical Ethics

Contemporary medicine gives rise to a variety of moral and philosophical questions. Some of the questions we will discuss include: Is the concept of disease objective? What moral duties do we have to those at the beginning and the end of life? How should limited health care resources be distributed? What are the responsibilities of medical researchers towards their subjects? Do we have reason to be worried about the growth of technology in medicine? Are the basic institutions of medicine just?
