ST- Topics in Lab Techniques

The class introduces students to different experimental techniques and limitations in order to help them succeed in an experimental research PhD. The objective is to familiarize students with experimental techniques common to many physics research laboratories. It will provide hands-on knowledge.

ST- Topics in Gauge Theory

This course will explore the quantum dynamics of (mainly four-dimensional) gauge theories, beginning with Maxwell theory, then Yang-Mills theory, asymptotic freedom, confinement, anomalies, instantons, chiral symmetry breaking, etc.. Supersymmetry will be introduced as an important tool to understand non-perturbative dynamics and used to study holomorphy, Seiberg duality and other exact results as time allows.

ST-Mobile App Strategy and Dev

This course explores strategic concepts in mobile app design and best practices in building apps that meet user needs. Students will design a successful user interface, choose user-friendly app features, retrieve usage analytics, and test security amongst other important design factors. Mobile apps will be developed using Swift, a programming language created by Apple that can be used to develop programs for the Mac, Apple Watch, tvOS, and more. No prior knowledge is needed as Swift is ideal for beginners and anyone who is interested in mobile app development.

Writing In Biology

Satisfies Junior Year Writing requirement for Biology majors. Students write and revise short papers on subjects likely to be encountered by biologists. Class discussion of papers. Prerequisites: 3 biological science courses, for declared Biology majors only.

S-ComplexChallng,MultidisInves

In this collaborative course, students through readings, assignments and discussions explore both the concept and practical application of multidisciplinarity in today's world. Students work in teams to explore specific real-world issues, such as the cost of higher education, diversity and inclusion in education, and the mental health of college students. Through participating in guided research traversing multiple disciplines, students investigate complex problems and their causes.
