ST-Intro/MEMS & Microsciences

Introduction to general manufacturing methods for Micro Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) with emphasis on concepts, physics, and instruments of various micro/nano-fabrication techniques that have been widely used in industry and academia. Topics include: 1. MEMS fabrication: lithography technologies, physical and chemical deposition methods, and physical and chemical etching methods, process integration, etc. 2. MEMS physics: Scaling laws, material properties, forces, microfluidics, interfacial phenomenon, etc.; 3.

Auditory Neuroscience

Anatomical, physiological, and neural basis of hearing at the levels of the outer, middle, and inner ear, the auditory nerve, and the central auditory system; clinical correlates of auditory neuroscience pertinent to the practice of audiology.

Adv Numerical Analys

Numerical methods of solving problems in engineering analysis. Topics include interpolation polynomials, numerical integration and differential equations, multiple regression and correlation, roots of equations and solution of simultaneous equations and numerical solution of partial differential equations. Prerequisites: undergraduate calculus and differential equations.

Energy Policy

This course explores the politics of energy policy by examining a range of cases from around the world, including the United States. What is energy? How does energy impact politics and everyday lives in energy-rich and energy-important countries? What are energy transitions and when do they occur? How do energy markets work? This course provides the conceptual, theoretical, and empirical tools to think critically about such questions.
