Intro Botany

This introductory botany course covers the unique features of plants, how they function, how they are categorized, and how they fit into the ecosystem. Topics include classification of plants, analysis of cell structure and various plant tissues and organs, and study of sexual and asexual reproduction as well as structure and function of plant systems. In addition, students will develop a basic understanding of the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

LINEAR ALGEBRA

Systems of linear equations, matrices, linear transformations, vector spaces. Applications to be selected from differential equations, foundations of physics, geometry and other topics. Students may not receive credit for both MTH 211 and MTH 210. Prerequisite: MTH 112 or the equivalent, or MTH 111 and MTH 153; MTH 153 is suggested. Enrollment limit of 35 students.

Childhood

Did you really learn everything you needed to know in kindergarten? In this course we will explore how children's development, with a focus on early childhood (ages 0-8), is shaped by the family, school, community, cultural, and policy contexts in which they participate and live. We will read research conducted by psychologists, sociologists, and education researchers, as well as investigate representations of childhood in popular media and literature.
