ST- Igbo I

Igbo I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Igbo. The course is offered through the Five College World Language Center. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Igbo develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Nigeria and to support coursework in African Studies.

ST- Igbo II

S-Islamic Political Thought

This course examines central works and figures in classical and modern Islamic social and political thought. We will discuss the works of classical Islamic jurists, theologians and philosophers, as well as modern religious reformers to discern the similarities and differences between them, and connect them to major currents of thought in the Islamic world today.

Human Rights & Wrongs

Introduction to humanitarian law. Topics include theory and history of international human rights law, growth and nature of human rights organizations, regional human rights schemes, cross-cultural contexts and meanings for human rights, the politics and law of immigration and refugees, international criminal law and other mechanisms for humanitarian intervention. Prerequisite: course in Legal Studies or international politics. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Legal major.

P-Intro/C Programming Language

This practicum assumes general background and experience in computer programming (such as that provided by COMPSCI 121 or a similar introductory programming course) and some knowledge of data structures (such as that provided by COMPSCI 187). Content will include basic C data types, declarations, expressions, statements, and functions; simple use of macros; some common library calls (such as formatted input/output); basic pointer manipulation using linked lists; and introduction to using standard tools (gcc and make).
