This seminar will be driven by student goals and designed to help students progress through the post coursework phase of their PhD education.

This course provides an environment for learners in the pre-dissertation phase to further develop their academic writing skills, identify potential sources of funding, expertise and mentorship to support their research and scholarly activities, and to practice developing effective proposals.

This course guides PhD Nursing students through the practical steps of turning research questions into actionable studies. Students will learn how to select appropriate research designs, collect data, address challenges in data collection, develop data management plans, engage with accountability partners, and lead research teams. Emphasis is placed on ethical project management, self-reflection on positionality, and strategies for disseminating research findings effectively.

This course is designed to equip learners with tools, techniques, and knowledge to create new futures through their research. Learners will engage with critical and emerging scholarship on nursing pedagogy, policy and public engagement, and publishing.

This course uses a design justice approach to center communities most impacted by nursing?s research in the process of identifying critical knowledge gaps, research priorities, and research questions/specific aims. Learners will investigate critical histories of research in their area of interest. Informed by accountability partners, learners will prioritize knowledge gaps and co-create research questions/specific aims.

In this course, students will connect theory with philosophy, developing critical analytical tools necessary to evaluate nursing theory/ies and theory for nursing, situating theories in their sociopolitical, cultural, historical, and philosophical context. Concurrently, students will begin to develop central concepts for their scholarly progression.

This course focuses on intermediate quantitative data analytic techniques to encompass approaches for future nurse scientists, characterization, management, analysis, visualization, integration, and use of large, heterogeneous data.
