We take a public health approach to hearing health, discussing public policy and specific management options for children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing. This includes, but is not limited to, early intervention, communication strategies, amplification options, and psychosocial issues associated with hearing loss.

Etiology and symptomology of hearing loss in children in regard to communication development, educational management, and aural rehabilitation of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school children.

An introduction to selected impairments of speech and language in children and adults. Content varies according to the instructor.

Functioning of the normal and impaired swallow mechanism; methods of swallow evaluation and treatment.
