ST- Nature's Materials
Material science and mechanical engineering approaches are used to explore the structure-function relationships of natural biomaterials. Principles that govern mechanical behavior are used to discuss design approaches for synthetic bio-inspired and biomimetic materials. The main focus is on structure/function relationships of materials. There is also emphasis on mechanical design and function, with some discussion of cellular interactions.
Issues of Aging/Global Society
Examination of concepts, issues, research, and theories related to human responses to biophysical, psychosocial, and cultural phenomena that affect older adults globally. (Gen. Ed. SB)
Perspectives in Nursing
This course provides an overview of healthcare services and historical events in nursing. The role of the nurse and patient experience will be introduced.
Political Economy of the Envir
Application of the theories of political economy to environmental problems and issues. Topics include regulatory and market approaches to pollution and natural resource depletion; cost-benefit analysis and its economic and political foundations; and case studies of specific environmental problems such as acid rain, deforestation, and global warming.
