Microbial processes in the soil and sediment environments. The UMass Amherst Eco-Rep Program is focused on working toward environmental literacy and leadership both within the program and on the campus at large. This is an academic course open to students of all interests and education levels. We especially encourage students who wish to gain or expand their knowledge in sustainability and environmental literacy. Eco-Reps build foundation knowledge in sustainability and raise awareness about these issues across the campus.

- are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters.
- begin with creative inquiry and systematic research.

- culminate in an oral defense or other form of public presentation.
