This 4-credit General Education course introduces students to the study of African American History. It begins with a discussion of the early twentieth-century Black intellectuals who pioneered the field of African American History and how the field has grown and changed over the past century. The course then charts the history of the African and African American experience, mainly in North America/United States from the late 17th Century through the end of the US Civil War.

Introduction to Quantum Mechanics, covering the major concepts and puzzles in both historical and logical contexts. Designed for the non-scientist, although proficiency in high school algebra and geometry is assumed. This class satisfies the physical science (PS) General Education requirement.

This is a course in planning, scripting, and editing video essays in film criticism, working with films from around the world and across film history. The field of film criticism is taking new forms in recent years, with social media, podcasts, websites and blogs dedicated to analyzing and discussing movies. Out of this trend, the video essay emerges as an exceptionally attractive and powerful medium for the film critic. In this class, we examine a wide array of video essays and explore the unique analytical and expressive opportunities the medium offers.

Practice in application of psychological techniques to clinical settings and counseling. Taught with staffs of cooperating institutions and agencies. Credit, variable; may be repeated for additional credit.
