ST- Swahili VIII

Swahili VIII is an intermediate-level course in Swahili (Kiswahili) for students who have completed Swahili I-VII or the equivalent. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Swahili develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in East Africa (especially Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) and to support course work in African studies.

Haitian Creole IV

Haitian Creole IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Haitian Creole. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Haitian Creole develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Haiti and to support course work in Caribbean and/or Francophone Studies.

ST-Burmese I

Burmese I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Burmese. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar (Burma) and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

ST- Dutch II

Dutch II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Dutch. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Dutch develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Netherlands and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Sinhala I

Sinhala I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Sinhala (Sinhalese). The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Sinhala develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Sri Lanka and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

ST- Danish II

Danish II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Danish. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Danish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Denmark and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Moroccan II

This course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Moroccan Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. The focus is on practical everyday conversation and listening comprehension. Students studying Moroccan Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Morocco and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Moroccan I or the equivalent.

ST-ST-Cantonese/MandarinSpkrs2

Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator.
