This course aims, from a communicative perspective, to develop in an integrated and meaningful way the fundamental linguistic skills of listening and reading comprehension, and oral and written expression of the Catalan language. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on lexical and grammatical content always seeking to respond to the communicative and academic needs of the student. Completion of Catalan 120 or an intermediate knowledge of another Romance language is required.

Big data present exciting opportunities to better understand risk factors, to build improved predictors, and to examine the causal relationships between variables. Still, there are many sources of association between two variables, including direct effects, indirect effects, measured confounding, unmeasured confounding, and selection bias. Methods to delineate causation from correlation are perhaps more pressing now than ever.

This course provides an overview of statistical methods for analyzing data where the outcome variable is categorical or discrete. The course will emphasize the theoretical underpinnings of the methods as well as an applied understanding of the computation and interpretation, both of which are necessary to succeed with real data analysis.

Students choose a topic on their own under the guidance of a faculty adviser who will then grade the final written report

Principles of statistics applied to analysis of biological and health data, evaluation of public health and clinical programs. Gen Ed: R2 (Analytical Reasoning).

STEM Ambassador seniors will work as a team to ensure that all are on track for graduation and making solid progress toward their next career challenge, be it graduate or medical school, entering the STEM workforce, or something completely unexpected. Seniors will also be asked to give back to the program by mentoring underclassmen or hosting workshops or social activities.
