Burmese III

Burmese III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Burmese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar and engagement with Burmese-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Bangla/Bengali III

Bangla/Bengali III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Bangla offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bangla develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bangladesh and India and engagement with Bangla-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Armenian III

Amharic III

Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and engagement with Amharic-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Afrikaans III

Afrikaans III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Afrikaans offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Afrikaans develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in South Africa and engagement with Afrikaans-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Vietnamese/HeritageSpeakers2

Vietnamese for Heritage Speakers II is the second part of a two-part elementary course sequence for students with a background in Vietnamese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator.

Urdu for Urdu-Hindi Spkrs II

Urdu for Hindi-Urdu Speakers II is a course offered through the Five College Center for intermediate or advanced speakers of Hindi or Urdu who want to improve their reading and writing skills in Urdu. A placement interview is required. The course format includes individual tutorials and a final written evaluation. Students will study Urdu grammar and short texts of various genres. By the end of the course, students should be able to read and compose intermediate texts in Urdu.

Turkish/Turkish Speakers II

Mentored Turkish for Turkish Speakers II is part of the Mentored Language Program administered by the Five College Center for World Languages. The course is designed for students who already have advanced proficiency in spoken Turkish, but want to learn to read and write in the language. The course continues the review of Turkish grammar and structure started in Turkish for Turkish Speakers I. The course format combines independent study with weekly individual tutorials with a Turkish language mentor.

Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Spkrs II

Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Speakers II is a course offered through the Five College Center for intermediate or advanced speakers of Hindi or Urdu who want to improve their reading and writing skills in Hindi.
