In this seminar, students will examine texts and works of art that have profoundly shaped the world we live in. The course is divided into four units: Models of Inquiry; the Impact of Science and Technology; Social Philosophy and Civic Engagement; and Art in the World. The course is supplemented with a plenary lecture by a distinguished honors faculty speaker.

This course will investigate the direct role of psychology in today's workplace. Multiple dimensions of workplace effectiveness and management will be addressed including: employee hiring, succession planning, management and executive development, talent management, conflict, organizational development, coaching, and others. An additional area of focus will be on the family business and psychology's unique role in consulting to family businesses.

This course uses the arts as a lens to study various historical sites in downtown Springfield and introduces students to the history of art in Springfield and its impact on the community. (No previous art experience necessary.)
