Iraqi Arabic II is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Iraqi Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Iraqi Arabic I or the equivalent. Students studying Iraqi Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Iraq and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.

Students studying Swahili develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in East Africa (especially Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda) and to support course work in African studies.

Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Speakers I is for advanced speakers of Hindi or Urdu who want to learn to read and write in Hindi. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. A placement interview is required. The course includes a complete review of Hindi grammar and structure. By the end of the course, students should be able to read in Hindi and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues and paragraphs in Hindi.

In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Levantine Arabic I or the equivalent.

Vietnamese IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Vietnamese. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Vietnamese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Vietnam and to support course work in Asian Studies.

In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed the equivalent of one year of elementary Modern Standard Arabic in a course with a speaking component in Modern Standard Arabic or a dialect.
