Golden Age Of Greece

Study of the art, history, and literature of the golden age of Greek Civilization. Historical periods studied include the Persian invasions and Persian culture, the Age of Pericles, the rise of Macedonia and the world domination of Alexander the Great. Readings from authentic and interpretive texts; no knowledge of Greek required. (Gen.Ed. HS)

ST-Ming-Qing Novel II

This course focuses on traditional Chinese novels written in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). We will engage in close readings of masterworks of vernacular novels, ranging in genre from romance narratives to martial adventures, while paying attention to the origins and development of Chinese fiction.

Media Chinese

Improves reading and listening comprehension through the use of authentic materials in Chinese media such as newspapers and television programs. Learn special vocabulary and style commonly used in journalistic Chinese. Learn Chinese word-processing, browsing news in Chinese on the World Wide Web. Prerequisite: CHINESE 426 .

Tectonics III

Explores interrelation between building functions, loads, structural system, materials and construction methods of predominantly large-scale buildings and other structures made of steel, concrete, engineered wood and masonry.

Pyramids of Egypt: Why & How?

This course provides an introduction to the multi-disciplinary study of one of the earliest state societies in the world. We will use the pyramids as a lens through which to study social, political, and technological developments in Egypt from prehistoric times to the emergence and collapse of a unified territorial state in the Nile Valley.
