This ensemble provides all University members an opportunity to perform in a non-competitive atmosphere and achieve success according to one's individual goals. Students will be required to practice before each rehearsal. One performance will be given each semester. Attendance is mandatory. An audition is required.
The use of music in film, a "grand tour" of the aesthetics and dramatic techniques of film music since 1895. Excerpts from "silent era" and sound films will be viewed and studied as examples of film music development and the composer's art. (Gen.Ed. AT)
A survey of Romantic and post-Romantic music in small and large forms and various media, including keyboard works, Lieder, chamber music, symphony, opera. Reading, listening, score study. Prerequisite: MUSIC 301.
Survey of the history of the French art song from the perspective of the vocalist and the collaborative pianist. Extensive study of vocal accompanying techniques with the practical experience of performing with vocal majors.
