IS- US/Age of Mass Incarcation

The 2016-2017 Feinberg Family Distinguished Lecture Series will explore the ways that state violence, mass incarceration, and mass criminalization have transformed the U.S. economy, culture and society. Students in this course will attend Feinberg Series events and may be expected to complete additional assignments. See participating faculty for details.

Design III

Studio. In-depth exploration of increasingly complex planning and architectural programming, social context of design. Continued exploration of design through written, visual, and dimensional opportunities. Extensive out of class work, portfolio development, advanced presentation techniques, and class participation/attendance required.

Intervention in Africa

(Offered as POSC 327 [G, SC] and BLST 327[A]) Africa is a primary target for aid intervention as it is the region with the highest poverty and suffers from recurring humanitarian challenges. This seminar will review international interventions in Africa--both military and humanitarian--to identify patterns of aid provision and critically examine the motivations behind intervention.
