The course will cover principles of graphic design, visualizing information, information graphics, and portfolio design. Course lectures will be complemented by digital skills workshops where students will become familiar with graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign). Through weekly exercises, students will build the skills necessary to complete a portfolio of creative work, or a visual book or project showcasing a body of research. Research on Teaching

Examination of the ecology of the classroom. Typical topics include a historical perspective of research on teaching, research on effects of teaching, teachers' knowledge, research on teaching specific subjects and grade levels, and responding to students' alternative conceptions of subject matter.

ELECTRONICS LAB

A semester of experiments in electronics, with emphasis on designing, building and trouble-shooting circuits. Discrete electronic components: physics and applications of diodes and transistors. Analog and digital IC circuits: logic gates, operational amplifiers, timers, counters and displays. Final individual design project. Prerequisite: 118 or permission of the instructor.

Independent Study

Independent work in biochemistry can be conducted with any member of the biochemistry committee and, upon approval, also with other members of the biological sciences and chemistry departments and program in neuroscience and behavior.
