The construction, legitimation, and delegitimation of political power; the formation of states, their expansion, and rebellion and revolution. Focus upon major theoretical perspectives, including pluralist, statist, institutionalist, class, feminist, and race-centered theories.

Complex Organization

The significance of large, complex organizations like schools, hospitals, businesses, religions and government. How such organizations identify goals and achieve them. How such organizations change over time and why.

Prerequisite: A 100-level or 200-level Sociology course.
