Elementary German

Dialogues, reading selections from print and electronic sources, and grammar exercises for basic communication, a good understanding of the fundamentals of German grammar, and an introduction to the traditions and institutions of the German-speaking countries. Elementary French II

A second-semester elementary French course: a continuation of FRENCHST 110 with emphasis on acquiring basic level of proficiency in the language and understanding of the culture of France and the Francophone world.
Prerequisite: FRENCHST 110, one semester of college French, or two years of high school French. Freshmen with senior year high school French with a grade of A or B are encouraged to enroll in FRENCHST 120 rather than 110.

Americans in Paris

In this interdisciplinary course, students will explore the influence of Paris on American writers, artists, musicians, scientists, and other cultural figures.
