This ensemble provides all University members an opportunity to perform in a non-competitive atmosphere and achieve success according to one's individual goals. Students will be required to practice before each rehearsal. One performance will be given each semester. Attendance is mandatory. An audition is required.

The use of music in film, a "grand tour" of the aesthetics and dramatic techniques of film music since 1895. Excerpts from "silent era" and sound films will be viewed and studied as examples of film music development and the composer's art. (Gen.Ed. AT)

Performance, solo and ensemble. Satisfies ensemble requirement for vocal applied music. Use of opera ensemble literature to achieve ease, confidence, and some command of the stage as actors as well as singers. Class and public performance. Pre-requisites: Applied Voice, audition, and consent of director.

A survey of Renaissance music from Dunstable and Dufay to Gesualdo, Monteverdi, and Gabrieliofrom faux bourdon to the invention of opera. Emphasis on musical masterpieces; reference to parallel developments in the visual arts. Prerequisite: MUSIC 300.
