Stat Quality Control

Introduction to the fundamental tools of statistical quality control and related statistical techniques. Topics include control charts, sampling plans, process capability indices, and other statistical techniques. Emphasis on basic concepts, their application, and the risks associated with various quality control procedures.

M E Lab I

Important mechanical properties of materials engineering such as yield strength and fracture toughness experimentally investigated with a view towards materials selection and design. Skills emphasized: experimental technique, statistical analysis of data, report writing, and oral presentation. Prerequisites: M&I-ENG 201, 211 and 273. ENGLISH 351 (ENGLISH 351 may be taken concurrently).

Adv Thermodynamics

Theory of advanced, direct, and indirect energy conversion systems. Thermodynamic cycle optimization methods. Irreversible thermodynamics as applied to steady state energy conversion systems. Direct energy conversion systems include MHD, fuel cells, thermoelectric, thermionic, and other current systems. Prerequisite: M&I-Eng 601 or equivalent. Mr. McGowan

Adv Prod Plan&Contrl

Quantitative approach to modeling and analysis in inventory systems, aggregate planning, flexible manufacturing and flexible assembly, scheduling, sequencing and forecasting. Emphasis on computer-aided production planning techniques. Prerequisites: M&I-Eng 379, 477, and 520.

ST-Mechatronics
