This course is designed to provide students with a foundational "road-map"
for starting a new business in the sports industry. The course will clearly and methodically outline the key issues, current thinking, problems, and solutions one will face over the course of an entrepreneurial venture or career. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the knowledge base upon which to plan, launch, and grow an entrepreneurial venture; and/or be a contributing member of an entrepreneurial startup team.

Basic theory in finance and accounting applied to managerial control of sport organizations. Includes forms of ownership, taxation, financial analysis, feasibility studies, and economic impact studies.

This course provides a broad view of entrepreneurship. Topics include the business plan, raising money for a new venture, assessing the riskiness of new businesses and the unique management challenges of startups.

Examines information technology from a business enterprise perspective. Topics include: the components and development of business information technology systems, their use in enhancing and facilitating management practices and decision making and their impact on management decisions.

Microeconomic theory for majors and non-majors. Concepts of supply, demand, markets, natural resource management, economic policy. Applications to business and government decision-making emphasized. (Gen.Ed. SB)
