Nutrition/Healthy Lifestyle

Introduction to the science of human nutrition and the relationship of food and nutrients to health and disease. Topics covered include digestion, and functions of macro and micro nutrients as well as current recommendations for nutrient intake. We will also discuss energy balance and weight control. (Gen.Ed. BS)

ST-Research Methods

The course will introduce students to the research process to prepare them for conducting honors research. Topics will include: steps to building research proposal (literature search, generating hypotheses, hypotheses testing, methods, results, discussion, and statistical analyses). Faculty will present research going on in labs to familiarize students with department research areas.

ST- Wellness Programming

Introduction to the development, implementation, and evaluation of health/fitness and wellness programs. Topics include program development; the legal aspects of health/fitness and wellness promotion; program evaluation; marketing and promotion of fitness and wellness programs. The lab component of this course involves working two hours per week in the department's fitness/wellness center (schedule arranged once class begins).
