General Physics II

Heat, kinetic theory, first and second laws of thermodynamics. Comprehensive study of electricity and magnetism from Coulomb's law to AmpEre's law. Applications to basic circuits and ending with AC circuits. Prerequisites: PHYSICS 151/153 and MATH 132. (GenEd. PS)

Kinematics, vectors and scalars, Newton's laws of motion, work and energy, impulse and momentum. Conservation laws. Collisions, oscillations, rotational dynamics, waves and sound, fluids. Use of calculus in physics; problem-solving methods. Co-requisite: MATH 131. (GenEd. PS)
