Corporation Finance

The time value of money; valuation of financial securities; allocating capital; an introduction to risk and risky decision making; the financing decision of the firm; financial statement and working capital management; more special topics include mergers and acquisitions, and international finance.

Prerequisite: ACCOUNTG 221

ST-Sustainable Service Mangmnt

Examines principles and issues regarding managing sustainability in service contexts. Normative as well as descriptive models of human behavior with respect to the environmental, social justice, and economic development dimensions of sustainable service management, from both the employee and customer points of view. Cases and examples, particularly drawn from hospitality- and tourism-related industries.

S-Advanced Club Mgt

Focus on detailed and advanced methods and issues regarding the management of private club management. Topics include: career planning, club bylaws and rules, legal issues, ethical issues, facility design and management and special enterprises within the clubs, break even and financial analysis, club feasibility and marketing, research in clubs, membership services, CCM certification and promotion/public relations.

Hospitality Merchandising

The purpose will be to expose the student to the variety of marketing, advertising and promotion techniques and theories that serve to attract business and attention to hospitality products, services and experiences. Topics covered include the market environment in which the firm(s) operates including the communication principles and objectives; and their effective application to the selling and merchandising of hotels, restaurants, tourist and recreation attractions.

Casino Management

Examines the history and development of gaming, casino operations including slots, table games, sports and Internet betting, credit and casino accounting, casino hotels and casino foodservice, and the marketing of the core gaming products. A central focus will be on current trends as well as the primary management and financial elements unique to operating a casino. Prerequisite: HT-MGT 100.
