Introduction to Japanese literature from around 1600 to present. Alternating between reading poetry and prose and viewing classics of Japanese film. Discussion of the construction of love and death during centuries of national seclusion and in the era of Western influence. Focus on changing gender relations and on the status of discriminated against minorities. Conducted in English. No prerequisites. (Gen.Ed. AL, G)

Nursing Care of Children:Pract

The application of principles of therapeutic and professional communication, teaching-learning, anticipatory guidance, parenting safety, assessment and management of individuals and families, health and illness states, and professional development to affect the health of children, parents, families, and self. Concurrent with NURSING 326. Prerequisite: successful completion of all Level I requirements.

Medical Ethics

An Honors introduction to ethics through issues of medicine and health care. Topics include abortion, treatment of impaired infants, euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, truth-telling, medical experimentation on human beings and on animals, and the allocation of scarce medical resources.
