Introduces primary and secondary data collection and analysis as a means to assess consumer behavior and develop effective marketing strategies; incorporates the use of technology in data collection and analysis. Prerequisites: MARKETNG 301; STATISTC 140 or 141 or RES-ECON 211 or 212.

Financial Reporting II

Continuation of ACCOUNTG 321. Conceptual framework for accounting for a firm's reported liabilities. The nature of liabilities, their recognition, measurement, and disclosure. Motivation of management in choosing among acceptable accounting alternatives in each of these areas, and the economic choices of such consequences. Prerequisite: ACCOUNTG 321. (Those who did not receive at least C should seriously consider taking that course over, prior to enrollment in ACCOUNTG 322.)

Explores the importance of Jewish history to the history of the ancient Mediterranean in general as well as questions relating specifically to students? education at UMass Amherst. Much of this exploration will be done in the group discussion part of the course. You will answer self-reflective questions that lead you to consider: How has your understanding of the modern Western world been shaped by the specific courses you have taken in your major and for General Education? Are there ways of thinking, of paying attention to certain types of detail, that have been useful to your major?

Discussions of real world applications frequently used to demonstrate concepts.

Family & Sexuality in Jewish H

An examination of transformations in the Jewish family and attitudes toward sexuality in Judaism, from antiquity to the present. Topics include love, sexuality, and desire in the Bible and Talmud; marriage and divorce through the ages; position and treatment of children; sexuality and spirituality in the Kabbalah; sexual stereotypes in American Jeish culture and Israeli society. Interdisciplinary readings draw on biblical and rabbinic literature, comparative Christian and Islamic sources, historical and scientific research on family and sexuality, and contemporary fiction.
