This is an introductory course to the field of mathematics education. It covers general issues about teaching, learning, curricula, and technology in K-12 mathematics. The course has no prerequisities and can be taken by any undergraduate or graduate student interested in mathematics education.

Interested in a historical analysis of these issues that accounts for power and privilege?

The Voices Against Violence model is focused on a "bystander" model that empowers each participant to take an active role in promoting a positive community. Exploration of real-life scenarios through interactive discussion and role-plays.

This course explores the relationship between hip hop culture and language and literacy practices of global youth cultures. We will look at this relationship in school and out-of-school contexts. (Gen.Ed. G)

Introduction to the mechanical properties of human muscle, and evaluation of the importance of these properties in human movement. Topics include: research methods used to describe these properties, and the role of modeling in understanding muscular properties and segmental motion patterns. Laboratory experience includes using a computer muscle model.
