This seminar provides opportunities for doctoral students to share their completed and in-progress research as a supportive community of emerging scholars. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with faculty on various research projects. Faculty-led discussions will include a variety of topics relevant to higher education, such as publication, job search, tenure and promotion in academia.

This course provides a guided opportunity for graduate students to (a) read, understand, evaluate, synthesize, and discuss music education research, and (b) improve their abilities to write in a manner appropriate for research and scholarly activity.

The purpose of this course is to explore innovative music curricula for students in grades K-12 and in music teacher education programs. Students will examine and critique various music teaching frameworks, theories, and models, as well as develop their own innovative curricular projects for specific settings.
