The course focuses on cultural history of immigration in Israel. The topics include: ideological, political, and social contexts of immigration; interethnic relations; and media representation of immigrants in Israel.
Completion of two credits mandatory associated with a "writing-intensive" Judaic Studies course at or above the 300 level. Arrange with faculty member, approval by Chair.
The life and history of the Jews in the medieval and modern worlds. Topics include Jewish-Christian relations; development of Jewish philosophy and mysticism; Jewish life in Eastern Europe; the Holocaust; State of Israel; Jews and Judaism in North America. (Gen.Ed. HS, G)
