Foundation Studio is a course designed to introduce students to the materials, techniques, language, concepts and process of making, using and thinking/talking about Art. Unlike many other art courses, Foundations is an experience where learning comes not only from the projects and their results but also from the interaction among the entire group of students. Basic Studio/Drawing

Studio for majors. A comprehensive introduction to drawing as a basic foundation for expression intrinsic to all visual arts disciplines. Variety of media applied to study of line, value and mark-making in pictorial, compositional and content problems in extensive image development including landscape, still-life, and figure. (Gen.Ed. Printmaking-Lith II

Studio, workshop. Continuation of ART 224 (see description). In-depth exploration of various lithography techniques in self-motivating group workshop. Emphasis on individual creative development. Advanced litho techniques, including various methods of color printing from stone and aluminum plates. Final portfolio required. Attendance mandatory; additional workshop activity during scheduled monitored periods expected. Prerequisite: ART 244 or instructor's consent. $75 cost of materials.

Animation Fundamentals

With studio. Introduction to methods and techniques as used in fine art animation and experimental film/video, or motion graphics. It evolved from a need for students to have a firm understanding of the included material & topics prior to their working on more advanced projects in traditional, experimental or digital animation.
